BLOOD MOON SIGNS: What Does It Mean?
There has
been a lot of talk and discussion about the Blood Moons phenomenon this
year. Every time you turn around someone's
posting a video or blog about them. But
what does this mean to you, to Israel, or to the world?
We know the
first blood moon is April 15, 2014. And
that is the date on the Gregorian calendar.
This is the calendar you and I use every day. Basically, it is the world's calendar. But there is another calendar, the Hebrew
calendar used by Israel. However, the
Hebrew calendar is God's calendar. So,
April 15, 2014 is also Nisan 15, 5774 which seems strange to us, but not to God
or the Jews. God has been using His
calendar since the beginning of time!
In the Bible when God was freeing the Israelites from Egypt, He told Moses about His 'feasts' and 'seasons', which in Hebrew is translated as the word 'moed'. Moed means 'divine appointment'. So, the first divine appointment is Passover.
The Lord's
Passover begins at twilight on the 14th day of the first month. (Lev 23:5) In Hebrew there is always darkness before
light, just like when the world was created.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. ( Heb
13:8)
The first of
the 4 blood moons tetrad is on Passover.
Since the sun, moon, and stars were placed as signs in the heavens, this
first blood moon is a sign. But for
what? This is the mystery and we will
just have to wait and see how history plays out.
A few 'in
the news' items that come to mind could be the signing of the covenant with
many (Dan 9:27); or Israel and Palestine coming to an agreement on a two-state
solution; or the Al Aqsa Mosque being torn down and the rebuilding of the 3rd
Temple on the temple mount; or what plans does the Pope have for the world? Pope
Francis will be visiting Jerusalem on April 27th.
Just because the blood moons happen on a particular day and this first blood moon will be in full swing April 15th/Nisan 15th becoming visible around 12:53am ET for about 78 minutes, doesn't mean something has to happen at that split second in time. Remember, God is in control and it could be days, weeks, or months later. However, since there is another scheduled blood moon this fall on October 8, 2014/Tishrei 14, 5775, something may happen, and soon!
For Moses and the Israelites, Passover was when they put the blood of a sacrificed lamb on the door posts so the Angel of Death would pass over them and only the first born of the Egyptians and their animals would be killed. In the New Testament, Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, was crucified on Passover and he was the symbolic 'lamb' that was sacrificed.
The Blood
Moon is a heavenly sign, especially when it occurs on a Holy Day. Looking across history this has only
happened 8 times, see just how rare of an event this is.
And God
said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day
from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years.
. . " (Gen 1:14)
What does our
Heavenly Father have in store for us with these rare Blood Moons on His Holy Days?
The world
has been going through some diverse weather and earthquakes and other signs and
wonders from the sun, moon, and stars.
Time is growing short. Time to
think about where you will spend eternity.
